The Nemethy Family of Newburgh Art Exhibition

Nemethy Family Exhibition NewburghThe Ritz Theater and Historical Society of Newburgh Bay and The Highlands are pleased to present a collaborative art exhibit, The Nemethy Family of Newburgh: 3 Generations of Art opening on September 15. The exhibit features paintings from the late Hudson Valley artist Albert Szatmar Nemethy, his children and grandchildren.

Hungarian artist Albert Szatmar Nemethy moved his family to the United States in 1951 and chose Newburgh as the city where he would continue his painting and raise his family. His six children. Julian, Georgina, Kristina, Albert, George and Veronika, are all talented artists inspired by the beauty and rich history of the Hudson Valley. Also featured in this exhibit are grandchildren Cindy and Richard Shaoul, the next generation of Nemethy artists.

Paintings by Albert Szatmar Nemethy will be on display at the Historical Society’s Captain David Crawford House, 189 Montgomery Street, Newburgh, through December 9. The Crawford House is open to the public Sundays from 1 pm – 4 pm, April through October and by appointment.

Artwork by the family of Albert Szatmar Nemethy will be on display in the Ritz Theater Lobby, 107 Broadway, Newburgh, through November 25. The Ritz Lobby will open Monday through Friday from 9 am – 5 pm.

The opening reception will be Saturday, September 15, 3 – 6 pm, at the Historical Society’s Captain David Crawford House.

The closing reception will be Sunday, November 11, 3 – 6 pm in the Ritz Theater Lobby.
