Will Teran – 20 Images – New Portraits – New Abstracts
1:30 at Newburgh Free Library Sunday, January 11, 2013

Born in 1985, Will Teran works with a wide range of media, primarily focusing on painting and drawing. He received his B.A. from Adelphi University in 2007 and has continued to further his professional development. Acutely aware of how all aspects of the creative process (formal, technical, and conceptual decisions) have an effect on the viewer, Teran is catalyzed to largely concentrate upon it’s ‘conversations’; the spontaneous, subconscious, and automatic act of mark making. In his paintings, a raw personal speech is the center of attention, delivered by a wild abstraction of color fields, cryptic iconography and anatomical study. The Neo-Expressionist movement in conjunction with the raw aesthetic of contemporary street art inspires much of his vision. Within the last three years Teran has been represented and showcased by major leading galleries in Beacon such as: Daniel Aubrey Gallery, Jena Sherry Galerie, and DGAF Gallery.

Teran has also been active in many community art projects such as: Windows On Main Street in Beacon, the Project Catalyst movement in Poughkeepsie, Newburgh Open Studios, several street art projects and his own series of figure drawing sessions held at his personal studio. Will Teran currently lives and works in Newburgh NY; an ideal home base for a personal mission of the revitalization of arts and culture in the Hudson Valley.
