Rescue Me: 117 Chambers St

117 Chambers St Newburgh

I love that although these homes are over a hundred years old and have been battered and neglected, they still retain original details. For example the door. You just need to replace the window pane and you have a functioning door again. The brick, cornice, and porch are all in pretty decent shape as well. This home is at 117 Chambers St, in between 3rd and Farrington. It is owned by Kenna Enterprises which bought it for $30,000 in 2002. Today this house needs an owner to make it a home.

Newburgh is New York State’s second largest historic district after NYC. Newburgh literally has hundreds of dilapidated and abandoned buildings just begging for someone to come scoop them up and restore them. I’ll continue to post my own photos, but if you have a particular building you would like to see saved, email me the photo of any building you appreciate that you would like to see rescued!
