Survey to Help Hudson Valley Money Stay Local

INDIE BIZ STUDY RECRUIT copy

Business owners, take the Indie Impact Survey at Rethinklocal.org. It is a study that will show how much more money stays in the Hudson Valley economy when people shop and dine at locally owned, independent businesses compared to corporate chains.  The results will be used in a public awareness and promotional campaign to educate the public on the economic, personal, and community benefits of supporting local independents, and encourage them to begin shifting more of their purchasing to local.

  • Buying local is great however there needs to be true incentives to consumers of all economic backgrounds. That is what makes it tough.

*P.S.: Here is a fun example of a region trying to keep it local. http://www.berkshares.org/

  • I have always liked the idea, and think the incentives are built in (community ties, personal attention, less travel, potential for partnering in many ways). It is pretty clear Beacon took that direction with a strong chamber of commerce and the local merchants forged ties and built on those.
