Rescue Me: 20 South Miller

20 South Miller Newburgh

South Miller is a gritty street with numerous vacant and abandoned properties. This one has the door kicked in. The kids playing in the street were kind enough to get out of the way for me to take the photo. They say this home has been like this for a while. What a sweet home this could be for a family one day. The Christmas lights are proof that this used to be someone’s home. Won’t somebody rescue it?

There are over 700 abandoned or vacant properties in the City of Newburgh. Habitation of these properties is vital to the revitalization of the city. 20 South Miller Newburgh NY Google Map

  • This is an interesting photo…

The patterns in the wood against the linear pattern of brick form such a great juxtaposition.

  • Thanks Dylan! Would be even better if someone rehabbed this baby! It would be such a cute home!

  • the house has potential – no doubt – although I am not thrilled with newburgh and the safety factor there – I admire your work – so many beautiful homes – I enjoy seeing them — Dorothy

    • no doubt empty buildings attract crime, but restoring them and putting people back in them is certainly the right way to go to make Newburgh safter
