Paintings by Debbe Cushman Femiak and Artists Reception

Chadwick Falls-1

Press release:

Friday, November 1 – Sunday, December 29, 2013

Debbe Femiak is an artist of wide range in both subject-matter and medium, employing fiber as well as acrylics, oils, pencil, and pen and ink in her work. Her versatility is dramatically illustrated by the charm and delicacy of her colored-pencil drawings of elves, the bold dynamism of her powerful cityscapes and floral compositions done with palette knife, and the elegant composition of her acrylic paintings of autumn landscapes in the Hudson valley.

A Newburgh resident, Ms. Femiak recently exhibited with the Wallkill River School of Art in Montgomery, with which she has been associated since 2008. Beginning there as a student, she is now an instructor as well as a represented artist at the school. Her most recent exhibition at that venue was in September. She has been winning prizes for her work since her high school days. She was awarded first place honors in the Helen Day Art Center in Stowe, Vermont, in 1990, and her drawings won the second prize in 2011 and the first prize in 2012 at the Artists on Campus competition at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh.

Ms. Femiak’s work in many media has been widely exhibited in the area; her paintings have been displayed in the City Hall in Newburgh, at the Seligman Studio Gallery in Sugarloaf, at Philipstown.info in Cold Spring, and at Warwick Valley Financial Association in Warwick.

The public is invited to meet the artist at an opening reception on Saturday, November 9, from 1 to 3
