  • But, but the assessor told me the neighboring vacant property doesn’t lower my property value. Related, while emotions were running high at the Nov. meeting, an adjustment was made to the City’s Homestead Tax Option. A re-balance in this direction occurs if home values decrease and/or commercial properties increase in assessment values. http://www.cityofnewburgh-ny.gov/city-council/minutes/council-minutes-114 (res.299, page 65).
    ‘On the subject of ‘equitable’ property taxes, at the previous city council meeting the mayor sought the council’s support behind a state initiative seeking possible alternatives to public education funding. The ed. tribe went on the defense, wouldn’t even entertain the proposal and tabled it…’need more info,blah,blah’. Well, the proposal is about ‘educating’ for solutions. Hmmm, so just who are “the people” alluded to…? I have an idea.
