  • Too bad Newburgh (you’re not alone), decades of progressive ideas are now conflicting and have you eating your tail. Hint, when almost 3/4’s of your households are “struggling” it’s an indication that Newburgh is already “unaffordable” to the majority. That didn’t happen over night, nor is it the end result of the ‘Great Recession’. Gentrification is just the slap to your face that’s awakening you to this reality. “Jobs are being created…”. Where? Not in the Hudson Valley… https://www.osc.state.ny.us/reports/economic/employment_trends_nys_2016.pdf (compound this with a 2% annual state population decline) . Forget your image of gentrification as some bucolic homogenized community…gentrified NYC has record homelessness despite falling unemployment. Progressive? After decades of funding ‘wars’ against “prominent barriers to success and issues of concern” you’ve bled your host dry. The taxpayer is tapped. So “what is your plan”, where does the ‘state’ get the money from? Well, you can’t can’t get all the money. Rising edu loan defaults coupled with decreasing home ownership is indicative of that. Hmmm, what about of sort of stealth ‘gentrification’… https://www.governor.ny.gov/news/governor-cuomo-announces-37th-proposal-2017-state-state-encourage-recent-college-graduates. The peeps won’t notice the difference, it’ll look like ‘the constituents are well served’ and the “big banks” will still get paid…

Besides, it’s obvious they are prone to divide and conquer tactics. Hell, they can’t even figure out a feral cat issue without becoming polarized.
