  • This is such a beautiful space. Would be good for a live/work situation for a creative professional. We enjoyed having PUG Projects there last year.

  • $8000 in taxes? Is that just property or school taxes? If just one or even both, plan on paying at least double this when the assessor plays her games.

    • Both. It’s assessment is down to $140K. Site uses: one retail, two apts. and two “storage”. Run some receptacles and plumbing fixtures to the latter and you’ll be correct in your assumption. However, if the retailer sold something resembling real food, they may be eligible for being ‘a public service, deserving’ of a tax break.

      • Can you go into more detail about this “public service” tax break? Never heard of it. There are tax breaks for all those drug paraphernalia bodegas?

        • I was referencing back to my previous comment regarding the “Accelerator Project”. I think they opened another pandora’s box post the “great recession”… https://nyconstitution.org/professors-corner/state-and-local-government/how-real-state-constitutional-restriction-gifts-or-loan
Sarcasm aside, what I think is more likely for this property is a “developer” cookie cutting the “open studio spaces” into four “affordable” housing units with little effect on the property taxes…’might even get a decrease. Have we run out of other people’s money yet?

          • Thus it becomes foolhardy to do something actually good for the community- like taking an illegal(as per the C of O but perfectly okay with codes if plans are approved) 6 family and turning it into a local small business and cleaning up the property. Playing the fool for 25 years now. Newcomers take note.
