Habitat for Humanity in Newburgh just dedicated its 68th house on their 14 anniversary at 43 E. Parmenter Street. If you have a chance, walk, don’t drive down E. Parmenter. It has turned into a lovely little neighborhood full of quaint rowhomes mostly consisting of homeowners who have put in many hours working with the organization to be able to purchase their homes.
Do you remember what this lot used to look like in March? A huge transformation!
If you are familiar with the East Parmenter Neighborhood or Washington’s Headquarters, this property might be familiar to you. Really this is in an ideal spot, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets snatched up quick. However, the lack of interior photos might mean that there is serious work to do on the inside. So, let’s talk about location. This entire block has seen development and beautification work by Habitat for Humanity. Soon, the majority of this block will probably consist of more homeowners than renters, if that is not the case already. The house to the left is very quaint and the owner keeps their garden quite nicely, as well as the other homes across the street that are very well maintained. If you are considering moving to Newburgh, this would be the spot. It’s only around the corner from Washington’s HQ, the Brewery, and all the shops on Liberty Street that are paving the way for the Newburgh renaissance. Two years ago this property was listed for $200k more. It seems like the owner wants to sell quick.

Just a few weeks ago there were two ditches where these framed houses now stand. Habitat for Humanity is moving fast on this second to last phase of the East Parmenter Neighborhood! For more details, check out the Newburgh Habitat for Humanity Facebook Fanpage.
Last week on Habitat for Humanity’s facebook page they announced that the second to last phase of the East Parmenter is underway. This has probably been one of the fasted developments to take place in the City of Newburgh. Soon, this will be a full-fledged micro neighborhood filled with mostly homeowners.

Phase IV of the East Parmenter Neighborhood is visually taking shape now that siding is being added to the buildings. You can see the entire neighborhood really taking shape and tying together now. This is going to be a very walkable neighborhood with even a little park once everything is complete. There are some houses that could be rehabilitated in area if you are interested in furthering the revitalization of this little neighborhood.

The East Parmenter Neighborhood is really starting to take shape since the last time we saw them preparing the foundation. This is a whole new micro neighborhood that is developing that will consist primarily of home owners. There are still many other exciting plans in the future like 34 and 36 E. Parmenter plans going before the ARC. Keep watching. Fore more photos check out Habitat for Humanity’s Fanpage.
