September 24, 2015 @ 11:00 pm - 12:30 am

Free

Constitution Island, which was an important site during the Revolutionary War, is the subject of a free lecture to be held at the Newburgh Free Library on Thurs., Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. Located across from West Point near the deepest section of the Hudson River, Constitution Island was also the home of two prominent female writers, sisters Susan and Anna Warner. Ronnie Coffey, former executive director of the Constitution Island Association, will present an illustrated talk based on her book, “Constitution Island.” Attendees will hear the story of the sisters’ writings, their triumph over adversity, their legacy and how the island became their unlikely home.
