Barbershop:Reading and Discussion

October 19, 2018 @ 10:00 pm - 12:00 am

Barbershops are sacred anchors of our community. This is a place where we come together to confide, to share, to discuss, to observe, to learn, to engage and more.
As a kick-off event to the 150th anniversary of Frederick Douglass visiting Newburgh, we are hosting a public reading and discussion at three local barbershops. At each barbershop, the public will read and discuss six short readings by African American authors on the topic of civic engagement.
To receive the readings in advance, email FrederickDouglassNB@gmail.com
Support for this program is provided by Humanities New York.
