STRONGROOM invites you to the closing reception of Jessica Angel: Grids of Formation, which is a site-specific installation at 91 Liberty Street in Newburgh, New York, and has been on view since December 30th.
For the closing we are pleased to present composer and sound artist Craig Chin, who will turn the installation into a live sound piece by incorporating improvisational electronic sounds relating to themes found in Jessica’s installation, such as perceptions of space and direction, and the relationship between the technology and humanity.
Craig Chin is a composer/sound artist based in Beacon, NY. He performs site-specific ambient soundscapes under the name Errant Space, and produces a monthly ambient podcast which can be found at http://www.errant.space.
Jessica Angel is a Colombian artist based in Brooklyn. Recent projects include installations at SVA, Seton Hall University, and the Bogotá Planetarium in Colombia. In August she completed a residency at MASS MoCA, and immediately following her Strongroom installation in Newburgh, she will be heading to The Abroms-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts in Alabama to install a 9,000 square-foot installation in the museum’s lobby, second floor, and galleries. She will also be teaching a class there covering themes such as the exhibition as a platform for integrated education, and art production around the study of architecture and science.
STRONGROOM is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Newburgh, NY producing pop-up contemporary art exhibitions.
