Dr. Irving Finkel, on The Ark Before Noah, a Lecture and Book Signing at the Newburgh JCC

December 1, 2014 @ 11:30 pm - 1:00 am

$5.

Dr. Irving Finkel, a curator at London’s British Museum, a world authority on ancient Mesopotamia, and the author of The Ark Before Noah, will talk about and sign his book at the Newburgh Jewish Community Center (JCC), on Monday, Dec. 1st, beginning at 6:30 PM. This event is part of a series of events over the Thanksgiving weekend to celebrate his new book, The Ark Before Noah, and his upcoming Discovery Channel Documentary.

Dr. Finkel first publically announced his discovery of a 3,800 year old tablet with actual instructions to build an ark in a lecture at SUNY Orange, Newburgh in February 2012. He will be discussing his subsequent findings and the impact of them on the development of the Old Testament Flood Story.

The Guardian calls it “‘one of the most important human documents ever discovered… his conclusions will send ripples into the world of creationism and among ark hunters.”

A lively and entertaining speaker, this will be Dr. Finkel’s fifth visit to the Hudson Valley to share his passion for the Ancient Near East.

The lecture and book signing on Monday, Dec. 1st is at the Newburgh Jewish Community Center (JCC), 290 North Street, Newburgh, NY. Entrance to the lecture is $5.00/ per person, and includes a dessert reception following the lecture. For more information, call the Newburgh Jewish Community Center, at 845-561-6602.

The co-sponsors of this event are the Newburgh JCC and the Jewish Federation of Greater Orange County.
