Mindful Yoga w. Lauren Rebecca

Rick Hanson, author of “The practical neuroscience of Buddha’s brain” defines being mindful as having good control over your attention. “The attention can be placed wherever you want and it stays there and when you want to move your attention to something else you can”. He adds, “Attention is like a spotlight and what it illuminates streams into the mind and shapes your brain. So developing greater control over attention is the single most powerful way to reshape the brain and thus the mind.”

Lauren’s passion for teaching yoga stems from over 15 years in the fitness industry as a trainer, gymnastics coach, and mentor. She holds a B.S. in Alternative Medicine and specializes in holistic health and wellness. Lauren seeks to help others thrive in life by nurturing body, mind, and soul.
Lauren completed her 200 hour Vinyasa Flow training with Happy Buddha Yoga in Goshen, NY. She started yoga as an exercise modality. However, during teacher training she started to see that the fruits of her practice would go far beyond the physical level. Lauren’s yoga practice inspired her to live each moment more mindfully. She has grown stronger, more flexible, and fearless on and off the mat. Lauren believes that to teach yoga is to also help others experience the benefits of mindfulness —- of bringing awareness into the present moment, of noticing and accepting what is happening right now without judgment or reaction. Integrating mindfulness offers a realistic approach to dealing with the everyday stresses of work, relationships, and all of life’s many challenges. Lauren teaches mindfulness as a way to open more deeply into your yoga practice and extend that feeling into the rest of your life
