Newburgh Community Cleanup
April 23, 2016 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
In celebration of Earth Day and to inspire the community to help keep Newburgh clean and green, Safe Harbors of the Hudson and many local organizations will hold the sixth annual Newburgh Community Cleanup Saturday, April 23. This is an opportunity for community members, young and old, to be a part of what’s great in the City of Newburgh. Registration for the cleanup will begin at 8 a.m. Teams will hit the streets at 9 a.m. and gather back at 12 p.m. at Safe Harbors for a post-cleanup barbecue.
Safe Harbors is seeking cleanup participants of all ages. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants should arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. to the Broadway/Liberty Street Lot, adjacent to the Ritz Theater. Supplies will be provided to participants when they arrive at 111 Broadway. For more information about the event or to get involved, contact June Henley at (845) 784-1110 or firstname.lastname@example.org
As a reminder, this is NOT a day of bulk pickup.
Please print and complete the Community Cleanup Waiver form and bring it with you to the event.
Once again, we will have a Recycled Art Contest – students are invited to share their flair for repurposing discarded items, recycling trash into treasures & creating art from what some consider garbage! Art works will be on display during the Community Cleanup and prizes awarded at the end of the event.
Students will submit work to their school art teacher. Private/home-schooled students should submit work to Safe Harbors of the Hudson at 111 Broadway by Monday, April 18th.
All entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form with name of artist on the artwork. Entry forms can be found on Safe Harbors’ website. Prizes will be awarded to the top entry for the following categories:
Primary – Grades K – 2
Elementary – Grades 3 – 5
Middle Level – Grades 6-8
