On Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 2pm  – 6pm, we will host a young women’s conference entitled “The Seed that is Planted” at the RITZ THEATRE located at 107 Broadway, Newburgh, NY 12550.  There will be dynamic and innovative young speakers and community organizations that will provide pertinent information on a variety of programs and services.  There will also be musical performances. And for the nourishment of the body, we will be providing a “FREE HEALTHY LUNCH” and a “FREE CARE PACKAGE” to each attendee.

So many young ladies are depressed and have lost hope due to various reasons, traumatic experiences such as teenage pregnancy, drugs, homelessness, HIV positive, domestic abuse, poverty etc.  Never have I personally seen such a loss of family support and institutions seemingly designed to help those in need, degrade and humiliate the dreams and desires of the impoverished.  Having gone to school and NFA, attended college at Orange Community College (OCC) and a resident for over seven years of  New Windsor, I have seen firsthand the struggles and issues faced by young women within the community.  This conference is designed to “LIFT” the minds and attitudes of young women and cause a positive paradigm shift in their lives. The program will be comprised of innovative speakers who will talk about relevant issues plaguing and facing this generation. It will also equip them with the tools they need to build their self esteem and give them the confidence to believe in a better future.
