Did everybody hear about the Bernie Rally in Newburgh

The park will open to the public at 4pm with music and food. We will end the night at sunset.

Bernie’s campaign reps will be there signing people up for canvassing this weekend. This is one of the most important reasons to attend!

There are our confirmed speakers for now:

Donna Waterman from Bernie’s campaign

James Cromwell, noted actor and environmentalist

Diana Hird for Congress, running for congress in District 18

Pavlina Tcherneva, professor at Bard studying income inequality

Sandy Oxford, Latina representing the Working Families Party

Jonathan Bix, Executive Director of Nobody Leaves Mid-Hudson

Michael Ciaravino, city manager of the City of Newburgh

Torrance Harvey, city councilman for City of Newburgh

Owen Fraser, local teacher and activist

John O’Malley, CWA 1120 representative

Sandra Kissam, longtime local environmental activist

Gabrielle Hill, local fast food restaurant manager

Joe Alvarez, local anti-violence activist with We Are Newburgh

Marlon Ramos, local latino organizer and activist

Sal Montes, latino political leader

Decora will be our DJ and will be playing music interspersed with speakers from 4-6. The rally will go from 6pm until sunset.

We will have food trucks from Nimai’s Bliss Kitchen, Roadies Diner, and Pippy’s Hotdog Truck

Resist AIM Pipeline will have a table with information.
Donate Life of Orange Co will be doing voter registration

We will also be inviting all those affected by gun violence in Newburgh up onto the stage for a memorial service at the end of the night. Local resident Omari Shakur will invite the families up.

The exact location is The People’s Waterfront, 1 Washington Street, Newburgh, NY, 12550. Its a large 7 acre open field next to Gully’s in Newburgh.

For those coming from Beacon, please try to take the ferry across. The last ferry back is at 8:20pm. If you live in Newburgh, please walk if you can. If you are driving, there will be limited parking in the lots down at the waterfront. There is also free parking along Water Street. There is additional parking up the hill in the city and on Broadway.

After the night is over, we hope you will head to Newburgh Brewing Company, Ms. Fairfax, or any of the great restaurants down on the waterfront.
