Remember that parcel of land on Broadway between Johnston and Lander Street that was torn down in hopes of receiving the location of the now completed SUNY Orange campus on Grand and 1st? You might have thought, what is going to become of that land? Well the City now owns it, and they are trying to seek developers who would be interested in building something there. They are accepting RFQ (Request for Qualifications) for the approximately 2.5 acre site.
I’ve heard around town that some feel that the City of Newburgh lacks a supermarket and that this site might be an ideal place to put one. What other types of businesses would you like to see fill in this spot?
The City seeks creative but feasible approaches to the redevelopment of the parcels and wishes to work closely with the developer to acheive the maxium potential reuse of the property. The RFQ may result in a short list of developers who would be invited to an interview, which could result in the issuance of a RFP (Request for Proposals) to prequalified developers.
The deadline for submitting the RFQ is May 20, 2011 at 3pm. For a copy of the RFQ and complete details of the site and surrounding area click here, (PDF File).
