Photographer, Ruedi Hofmann took these amazing photographs of a Mexican Vaquero Rodeo next to the Newburgh Armory a few weeks ago called Rodeo Tierra Caliente. According to Ruedi there was a great turn out, 300-500 in attendance with great music, great food and families. Also in attendance were Senator William J. Larkin, Jr and William Kaplan. The next Vaquero Rodeo will be June 22nd.

According to the United States census, Latinos or Hispanics make up 47.9% of the population in the City of Newburgh. There is a lot to be seen in this city with a population just under 30,000!

  • wow, it looks like Texas in the City of Newburgh! didn’t even know it went on. how cool!

  • Gorgeous shots! Sorry not to have known about it. If it’s a yearly event–I’m there in 2015 😉

  • This is precisely the type of event that should be publisized in Newspapers throughout the region and beyond. How about some good PR to offset the daily dose of bad news offered by our local media?

    • I was thinking the same. We walk these streets often in the evening, drive in/out of the ‘City from both ends and often ‘miss the memo’. Councilwoman Angelo may have a point regarding the barrage of posters on the utility poles and buildings ; aside from the aesthetics consideration, the messages become ambiguous.
Perhaps a small solar powered billboard at the ‘City’s entries in place of the squatters and solicitors. Or for the more liberal minded, keep the latter and let them hand out event bulletins as well. Quid pro pro.
