General George Washington created the Badge of Military Merit\, August 7th\, 1782\, during the last days of the Revolutionary War while at his headquarters in Newburgh. The Badge\, the first award of its kind to honor enlisted personnel\, evolved into the Purple Heart\, an award given today to officers and enlisted personnel wounded or killed in the defense of our country. \nWhen you visit\, take a guided tour of the Headquarters and explore the Museum’s exhibits\, too. \nThe craft is included with Museum admission. DESCRIPTION:ADULT INTRO WORKSHOP\n115.00\n\n10am-2pm November 10th and 11th\, 2018\nADULT INTRO TO WEAVING \nParticipants will team up to share a loom and learn basic plain weave and twill patterns on three different warps. Warp winding\, yarn calculation\, and dressing the loom will take place on Saturday. On Sunday we will finish up dressing and weave through samples to finish and take home by the end of the day. Alternative fiber yarns will be available to highlight play between structure\, material\, and color as weavers rotate through looms to try each pattern. \nNote: Please eat before weaving class! Clean snacks are welcome for the hangry among us.\nFeeling shy? Sign up with a buddy! \n3 to 6 participants.

DESCRIPTION:Come get a seat for a creative workshop right here at SJ Vintage 1923 in Town of Newburgh. This week you will be creating a Rustic Antler with Felt Flowers Wood Wall Hanging. You will learn how to use Dixie Bell chalk paint\, learn how to distress the plaque\, work with stencils and make your own felt flowers. No need to bring anything.\nDuring each class we will walk you through easy steps with plenty of demonstrations and hands on help as you create your very own piece to take home. All materials are included and because most of our items are made with reclaimed wood\, there are often character flaws\, imperfections and blemishes in the wood making each piece unique to itself. The one you make may vary slightly from the one pictured.\nNewcomers and all DIY skill levels are welcome to this class. \nRustic Antler with Felt Flowers Class is $50\n50% seat deposit is required to hold your seat reservation.\nCall or stop in shop for payment info.\nPlease arrive 10 minutes before class starts and dress appropriately as workshops can get messy.\nBe prepared to have fun!
