Perfect for restoring Newburgh’s historic brick buildings! \nTaught by instructor Chris Hertz\, Conservation Mason/Programs Manager at LimeWorks.us and Craftwork Training Center\, this two-day workshop introduces the basic principles and work practices needed to repoint vintage brick and/or stone structures using breathable lime mortar\, as well as basic techniques to achieve convincing and durable surface repairs for vintage masonry. Through lecture\, demonstration\, and hands-on exercises\, we cover the following: \n\n\nProperties of natural hydraulic lime mortars \n\n\nTips for selecting and mixing lime mortars \n\n\nClean\, fill\, repoint\, and tool mortar joints \n\n\nIdentify properties of Lithomex and prep substrate for repair \n\n\nMix\, apply and blend Lithomex to surface masonry \n\n\nUnder the guidance of experienced masons\, participants learn and practice skills on mock-up panels and historic structures undergoing restoration in Newburgh.
