This year an empty lot centrally located in downtown Newburgh was purchased from a private owner by Safe Harbors of the Hudson and transformed into a beautiful public green space and outdoor performance venue. The backbone and restructure of the park was completed in July of 2016 along with the main plantings. We want to donate a portion of December 17th’s ticket sales to Safe Harbors to further the project and help them pay off the land. \nSafe Harbors of the Hudson is a mixed-use\, non-profit housing and arts redevelopment project. The project began in 2002 with the purchase of the Hotel Newburgh\, a once proud destination\, that had deteriorated over the years. Safe Harbors purchased the hotel in 2002 and in 2004 was awarded $21 million in state\, county and federal funds to create a vibrant affordable\, supportive housing complex. Safe Harbors has led the way as an inclusive urban renewal neighbor in providing quality housing\, arts programming\, and community engagement that has helped to transform a city. \nQueen of the Hudson is trying to raise $2\,000 in support.  Purchase a ticket and $5 will go to the project.
