Complete Streets Design Workshop
September 14, 2016 - September 15, 2016Free
The Orange County Planning Department has hired Alta Planning and Design to create complete streets design plans for targeted locations in two study areas under the Creating Healthy Schools and Communities Grant (a 5 year NYSDOH public health initiative.) These study areas will include an intersection and 1.3 mile corridor on Lake Street and Lake Drive in the City of Newburgh and a 1.3 mile corridor on Pike Street and Jersey Avenue in the City of Port Jervis.
Newburgh’s Corridor can be found here
The Newburgh Complete Streets project aims to increase connectivity between recreational opportunities, especially the Newburgh Armory Unity Center, improve access to multiple modes of transportation for all ages and abilities, and foster healthy lifestyles. The project focuses on Lake Street and Lake Drive.
There will be two opportunities for public participation: The design workshop will be open to the public from 11AM-12PM and from 2PM-3PM. The public is invited to review and provide feedback on streetscape design alternatives from 6PM-7PM
