Hudson Valley Rally for Bernie
April 15, 2016 @ 8:00 pmFree
Join us on the Newburgh waterfront for the Hudson Valley Rally for Bernie on April 15th at 6pm! Help us spread the word by sharing this event! If you or someone you know are interested in speaking at the rally, please let us know ASAP.
Here is the schedule at this point. The speaker lineup is still evolving, but we sould have more details soon. We are collaborating with the national campaign, but this is not an official campaign event. Bernie is certainly invited, but surrogate speakers are more likely.
FOOD! We have at least 2 food trucks already committed, working on more.
10am-12pm -Roundtable discussion open to the public discussing Bernie’s platform and how it applies at the local level. Location TBD
4-6pm. Canvassing and Volunteer signup. Donna Waterman, the District 18 field captain for the national campaign, will be down on the waterfront site signing people up to volunteer for canvassing and other opportunities
6pm-Sunset. The Rally will include local leaders of the Latino and African American community, members of city council, and regional politicians running for congress. We also hope to have representatives of various environmental groups, teachers, and celebrity surrogates. We hope to have some kind of memorial for those lost to gun violence in Newburgh. If the campaign is able to send us performers, we might have a musical performance at the end of the night.
If you are coming by train, you can get off at the Beacon stop of the Metro North and take the ferry across to the Newburgh dock near the site. If you do that, you should know that the last ferry leaves at 8:24 back to Beacon.
If you are driving, Newburgh is at the nexus of I-84 and I-87. We will share parking information soon.
