Palate Tasting – Women in Wine

January 20, 2017 @ 10:00 pm - 1:00 am

As part of a new focus at Palate Wines, we’ll be expanding our selection of vineyards owned and operated by women.

While women winemakers exist all over the world, we thought we’d start with old-world vines that have existed for centuries: Campania inland from Naples and Bordeaux in Southwest France.

The Mustilli winery is run and operated by Anna Chiara Mustilli, who’s family has been in the business since the fourteenth century. Focussing on single-varietal wines local to the Sannio appellation, the family has prided itself cultivating wines from grapes that long been overlooked by the wine world. One such historic grape is the Aglianico, known for it’s full body, firm tannins, and rich history.

The Bordeaux called Chateaux de Brague, an estate purchased by a railroad industrialist in 1936 who’s family has run the vineyard for three generations. Now, it is run by the two grand-daughters, Noelle and Cecile, who see after the vineyard with an eye for quality and respect for the environment. In the process, these sisters produce a classic expression of the “Bordeaux” which has become one of top-sellers.

We look forward to sharing these wines with you on Friday.

Cheers,

The folks at Palate Wines
