Join us for HVHP Restoration Training Program’s fourth Winter/Spring 2020 workshop.
The Plaster Restoration Workshop will be held Friday, May 8th + Saturday, May 9th.
This workshop’s lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on exercises will introduce students to the benefits of lime-based plaster, basic surface preparation, and simple methods for performing repairs to historic plaster walls. Expert practitioners Tom Niland and Reggie Young will lead participants through the restoration of medallions, crown molding, and walls in with hands-on practice onsite in historic Newburgh homes.
We will be covering:
* Plaster basics
* History of plaster usage
* Matching techniques
* Technical plaster information and life expectancy
* Proper wall preparation
* Installation techniques
Students will work with specially formulated lime plaster designed for resurfacing , restoring, and repairing existing plaster walls. In addition to tool skills and application techniques, students will learn to understand the science behind breathable, natural hydraulic lime; how to properly mix and cure lime plaster; how to apply alkaline fiberglass mesh over hairline cracks; and how to create a unified and flawless plaster surface. Prior experience with plaster is helpful but not required.
The cost for two full, 7-hour days, including all materials, tools, and lunch, is $380.
To ensure an exceptional learning experience, the class size is limited. However, a minimum of 6 participants is required to hold the workshop.
