Chaktails– Raising consiousness, one glass at a time!

YouThere Studio is hosting it’s first edition of Chaktails, a Chakra Ligth Bath and Experimental Cocktail Lab (Chakras + Cocktails = Chaktails) on Saturday, July 30th, 2016 (Newburgh Last Saturdays).
Accordingly, we will be drinking cocktails designed to massage and balance the Root chakra.

The event will be held inside of a Chakra-light bath, so be prepaired to be refreshed and enlightened. Also helpful to this end will be a choice of two alcoholic cocktails containing ingredients designed to balance and enliven the Root Chakra as per traditional Ayruvedic medicine. Non-alcoholic drinks will also be lying around somewhere.

WHAT THE F*** IS A CHAKRA LIGHT BATH?
Ok, so a Chakra light bath goes like this: You sit in a room. You relax. The room is filled with light –first red, then orange, yellow, green, blue, ingigo, violet. These colors represent the seven Chakras– centers of energy and vitality described in traditional eastern medicines and appropriated by semi-hippie energy healers in Upstate NY. As your body is bathed in each color of light, the corresponding chakra gets tickled, enlivened, massaged, and balanced.

The Chakra system is one framework among many that is used to make sense of who we are as people and where we come from in relation to other people and our community.

WHO DESIGNED THE COCKTAIL RECIPES?
Our mixologist lives in Mumbai, India and has years of personal experience in Ayruvedic medicine. She’s a super cool woman, who also writes extensively about art, style, and fashion on her personal blog.

WHAT DOES THE ROOT CHAKRA DO?
The root Chakra, represented by the color red, has to do with a sense of grounding, security, and safety. It’s located around the base of your spine, near the pelvic floor and the first few vertebrae. This chakra is the foundation for all the others, and can be compared to the foundation of a house– if the root chakra is unstable, all others could be shaky too. Having a strong root chakra will help you feel safe and sound, and you’ll worry less about the little stuff in life.
