Invasive species removal from Algonquin Park

July 9, 2016 - July 10, 2016

July 9, next Saturday at 9:00 AM is your chance to really lend a hand on invasive species removal.  The Water Chestnut has taken over the two mill ponds in Algonquin Park and literally covers over 90% of the pond’s surface. The newly formed Preserve Algonquin Park (PAP) group has asked our help to begin a multi-year project to get rid of this invasive.  We have a plan and will need many hands willing to get wet and dirty.
All able bodied persons over the age of 18 are welcome and will be appreciated. Please wear sturdy shoes and clothes you can get wet, bring gloves and drinking water, and, if you have one, a metal garden rake.  Meet us at the mill pond in  Algonquin Park located at the corner of Route 52 and Powder Mill Rd. in the Town of Newburgh.
Please let us know if you will be there to help by return email to gebhards@earthlink.net.
