The Inside Angle
June 5, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm$10.00
The Inside Angle is a new series of candid discussions focusing on the artist’s perspective. As consumers of art and culture, the “how is it made” aspect of what leads the creator into the journey of their work, is not always recognized. “The Inside Angle” will allow artist and consumer to meet and share in a small public seminar with a performance component. The series premieres Sunday, June 5th, 2016, 3:00 pm, at The Fullerton Center for Culture and History, Newburgh, NY. Local musician and composer Neil Alexander will moderate. The first guest is NYC based performer Premik Russell Tubbs, a composer, arranger, producer, and accomplished multi-instrumentalist, equally adept in Jazz, Pop, R&B, World and Experimental genres. Premik performs on various flutes; soprano, alto and tenor saxophones; wind synthesizers, and lap steel guitar. The list of people he has worked with includes Carlos Santana, Whitney Houston, Herbie Hancock, John McLaughlin, Ravi Shankar, Narada Michael Walden, Clarence Clemons, Ornette Coleman, Jackson Browne, Jean-Luc Ponty, Lonnie Liston-Smith, Scarlet Riveria, James Taylor, Sting and Lady Gaga.www.premik.com.
The historic Fullerton Mansion is located 65 miles north of NYC in the majestic Hudson Valley, at 297 Grand Street, in the Historic District of Newburgh, NY. Michael Green bought the mansion in 2009 and created The Fullerton Center for Culture and History. In addition to offering portions of the mansion for appropriate events, the center serves as a residence for artists and others in the process of cultivating their lives and enhancing the community.
