A Sunday afternoon community event and fundraiser in support of the work of The Restorative Center. TRC is a grassroots organization working to advance systems of restorative justice in Newburgh, N.Y. We develop and teach methods for repairing harm, healing rifts and nurturing bonds within our community. Currently, we reside at Space Create on lower Broadway, where we host free public events and training programs.

We envision a future in which the majority of issues currently routed through the criminal justice system and family court are resolved by the communities where those issues arise.

This is our first Newburgh fundraiser! We invite you, our friends and neighbors, to enjoy a light brunch buffet and a powerful musical performance as we celebrate the work we’ve done together here so far.

SAMMUS (Enongo Lumumba-Kasongo) is an Ithaca, NY based rap artist, producer, and PhD student in the Department of Science & Technology Studies at Cornell University. In addition to managing a full-time music career, Enongo has spent the past eight years as a public-school and college level educator. Her music draws influence from many arenas, addressing issues from race to politics to videogames to the power of therapy.
