It’s time for the 4th Annual Newburgh Open Studios 2014 taking place Saturday and Sunday, September 27th & 28th 11am to 5pm. Kick-off party will be Friday, September 26th at 119 Broadway, 3rd floor. Don’t forget to tag your photos #newburghopenstudios
This year there will be 50 artists participating and along with the open studios and Alternative Spaces there will be a special event taking place- an outdoor site specific sculpture group show- GlenLily Grounds!

Things are getting brighter inside Atlas Industries new art gallery. We are so excited to see on their Instagram account that the blocks have been removed and new windows are being installed. It’s a step in the right direction to get this gallery open! Remember what it used to look like? Atlas Industries main entrance is located on Spring Street, however, their building also extends to South William.
The Safe Harbors of the Hudson Ann Street Gallery is pleased to present Narcissism and the Self-Portrait, a group exhibition that features more than forty selected works in diverse mediums by contemporary artists grouped together by the genre of self-portraiture. The exhibition opens with an Artist Reception on Saturday, September 27, from 6:30 – 8:30 pm.This event is free and open to the public.
The exhibition is on view through Saturday, November 22, 2014. The exhibition was curated by Virginia Walsh, Director of the Ann Street Gallery.The Safe Harbors of the Hudson Ann Street Gallery is a nonprofit art gallery specializing in contemporary emerging and established artists. Attention all Newburgh artists!
Arts in Orange (AiO) Artist Grant (AG) in the amount of $1,500 are available to Orange County, NY resident artists. AiO AGs are designed to provide direct support to artists, in all stages of their career, in all disciplines, to create work that will enhance public participation in the arts by directly engaging the community. Applications must demonstrate the artists’ commitment to creative ideals and the development of them. Projects developed and presented by the artist must include a dynamic public component through active participation and/or production of the project occurring within Orange County between December 1, 2014 and May 31, 2015.
Disciplines eligible for funding include choreography, film/video, multi-discipline arts, music, theater, visual arts, and written arts.AiO AGs are awarded directly to the artist; a not-for-profit conduit is NOT required. No monetary match or additional income is required. If the total project expense is more than $1,500, applicants will be asked to indicate the sources of additional income for the project budget. Artists, ages 21 and over are eligible, with the exception of artists who are students at the time of application, or are employed by or a member of the Board of Directors of AiO.
Application DEADLINE 4PM, TUESDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2014. Late applications will NOT be accepted.

Newburgh Open Studios is in the midst of organizing their highly anticipated studio tour in the Hudson Valley. The 4th annual studio tour will be September 27th and 28th in various locations throughout the city. It brings together to community, artists and awareness of the importance of the arts to the revitalization of Newburgh. It also brings many outsiders into the city, visitors who spend money at local businesses as they walk around the downtown.
