There are many powers that be working hard to bring positive press to the City of Newburgh. This recent article is an example of that. Johanna Porr was recognized for her efforts as director of the historical society in the Winter 2013 issue of Preservation Magazine, a huge deal in the preservation world. Ideally Newburgh’s history and reinitialization efforts are what most of us hope Newburgh will be known for. This is certainly a step in the right direction.

There was a nice write-up of the growing Newburgh business scene in the December issue of the Chronogram Magazine. In it, they mention Newburgh Restoration (thanks!), and many other Newburgh businesses. You can check it out online if you don’t have a copy. Although the title of the article refers to the Town of Newburgh, there are many City businesses mentioned.

The new mayor was quoted as saying, “We need to build a business district around the architecture, the location, the art.” Only time will tell what comes to fruition. Either way, it’s something everyone in Newburgh is hoping for.
