Here’s an update on a home that has been off and on the market in the Heights. I have shown this home in 2010 and 2012. The exterior hasn’t changed much, but it seems new photos have been provided of the interior. The property was bought after being vacant for a while with some improvements made. Two years ago it was listed for $129k, now it has dropped considerably. This house still needs work, but it is in a good section of the Heights. The neighbor to the left takes exceptional care of their property as do a few other neighbors, and you are just a block walk away from the Bluff.

Shop Small at Newburgh Last Saturdays

This Saturday is not only Newburgh Last Saturdays, it is also Small Business Saturday, an initiative to shop your local small shops to support your community. There couldn’t be a better time to boost efforts to bring shopping back to the City of Newburgh. Meters will also be suspended on Saturdays during the holiday season from November 29 to December 27. There will be art showings, demonstrations, and longer businesses hours across the city. For a full list of events go to the Newburgh Last Saturdays Fan Page.

Elm Street Carriage House

To the rear of some of Newburgh’s homes you can find carriage houses like this one located on Elm Street. The main house is located on Cedar Street. They have kept up nicely with both buildings on their property. It looks like it is being used as a garage, but could probably be converted to a studio or guest house if they desired. Carriage houses are just a charming example of the smaller architectural treasures Newburgh holds.
