A new shop is coming to 115 Liberty Street called Palate Wine & Spirits. They just received their liquor license last week and are planning for a soft opening this Saturday for the Newburgh Illuminated Festival. The owner, Philippe Pierre, hopes that the shop will be a place where everyone can find the perfect bottle of wine regardless of a customers budget.

A Little Beacon Blog recently announced that Sound Shack Beacon, a local record store, is leaving Beacon due to a 30% rent hike for the entire building. The owners have picked up and moved to the Town of Newburgh at the Newburgh Vintage Emporium. It will be interesting to see if this trend continues in the future. This is not the first instance I have heard of this, and surely not the last. Will Newburgh be the next move for these businesses, or will they go to other Hudson Valley towns?

The quaint building that is 71 Liberty has seen some major improvements since it was bought back in February. This property sold so quick I didn’t have the time to create a real estate post. The going price was $40,000, most likely a cash deal. There was major leaking and other serious issues, so it is a delight to see that the new owner is quickly rehabilitating the property. Mr. Yannone who also saved the West Shore Train Station is behind this project. Word is that a new business selling local Italian food will be opening soon. They will cater to customers on the go. There might be other waterfront property owners on Liberty Street, but this is the first I am hearing of it.
Martha, a cafe on Liberty Street has just announced that their backyard garden is now open! They are adding a few new items to the menu, so make sure to stop by and check them out.
It’s great to see that Angela from APG Pilates is still going strong on Liberty Street, and that now she is teaming up with other experts in the wellness field to bring the very best to the City of Newburgh.
