Sometimes real estate listings are old, and you never know if the house is really still for sale. But this house is of interest because it’s on the Newburgh Heritage Tour.

The heritage tour says that this house is one of the 3 oldest left in Newburgh! According to the realtor, it was built in 1785. Pretty Awesome. And, according to the realtor, the third floor has a huge loft where President Franklin Delano Roosevelt held meetings. That would be something to further investigate but, after a little digging I found a whole load of photos of the Roosevelts in Newburgh at their estate, Algonac, including some sweet ones (even though we know how their marriage turned out in the end). Also, in the book, Newburgh: The Heart of the City, there is a photo of FDR going through Newburgh for one of his campaigns.

When I started browsing the houses for sale in Newburgh, I came across this beauty. Wow! Getting a mansion for this price is pretty awesome. And as you can see from the photos below, a lot of the original detail is intact. There are even 2 basements. I wonder how that works? Anyway, they are trying to market this place as commercial space, but I really hope that someone makes it into a home. This place would be gorgeous. Too bad I don’t have an extra $200k laying around. See more pictures below….

I’m a little late on this but about a month ago, HGTV aired an episode on their show, If Walls Could Talk, a home in the City of Newburgh. It aired September 11, 2009, but I am pretty sure you can catch reruns. This is the preview HGTV offers about the episode:

“Self-proclaimed eccentric Arthur Kole gets a pleasant surprise when he moves in to his 8,000-square-foot home in Newburgh, N.Y. There are two safes that are begging to be opened, but when he starts finding caskets, his surprise turns into a “grave mystery.”

I know what the surprise discovery is, do you know? Well, if you didn’t get a chance to see the show there might be another chance for you to discover this home. If you are in the market for a new place, you might be able to get a tour for yourself. The home is now up for sale with River Realty. It has 9 bedrooms and 5 baths, and the interior is pretty impressive. Supposedly the river views are awesome! There is even an elevator! Here are some pictures, gallery link, and realtor contact information bellow:

What is the benefit of enrolling in their home buyer program? You gain access to grants administered through PathStone from Mount Saint Mary’s College and St. Luke’s Hospital. They will help you apply for whatever grants are also available for you. When I showcase homes on here, I like to only showcase the homes that are in need of restoration, that would be awesome if someone would just show them a little or a lot TLC. I also like to showcase the cheaper homes that might be attractive to first time home buyers looking to settle their roots in a richly historic house-hopefully in Newburgh.

It is common knowledge that there are gorgeous homes closer to the waterfront that have gotten well deserved attention. The William Fullerton Residence is a wonderful example. Well, this home is one that should get some well deserved attention because it is absolutely gorgeous! It’s a great example of what the higher price point of Newburgh has to offer, and trust me there is a lot more and more. Well this house at 272 Liberty is for sale. Take a look and see for yourself and see how well it has been preserved.
