The artful juxtaposition of painting and floral design
Friday, June 3 – Sunday, June 5, 2011
Reception Saturday, June 4th 1-3 pm
During the exhibition of “The Art of Friendship,” running at the Karpeles Museum from June 2 through July 30, the artists Lily Norton and Kate Ferriter have organized a unique presentation that demonstrates the intrinsic unity of nature and art. For the three days of Friday, June 3, through Sunday, June 5, the museum will present an exhibition of original artwork, in many media, linked with plant and flower arrangements created for the occasion by local floral designers, each piece inspired by and interpreting the work of art with which it is paired.
This innovative display celebrates the harmony of nature and the imaginative transformation of it into creative works of art. Each arrangement of natural form stands alone with its own distinct artistic statement, but each also reflects an aesthetic affinity with its companion artwork.
Art in Bloom will be open to the public on Friday and Saturday, the 3rd and 4th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Sunday, the 5th, from 12 to 4 p.m.
On Saturday, June 4th, the public is invited to meet the artists and floral designers at a reception at the museum from 1 to 3 p.m.
