Newburgh Real Estate: 286 Grand Street

There isn’t much information available on this 7 unit apartment building on Grand Street. It’s a short sale, and it is being sold as is. The property is vacant. You can see there are about 4 stories plus a basement. It is only about a block away from Mt. St. Mary College. You might be able to rent this out to college students or live on one floor and rent the rest out. The facade has seen better days, and who know what is waiting inside. But There are still some nice architectural features outside.

Also, the taxes according to the listings are probably totally off.

  • This building was supposedly designed by Stanford White and if so should be preserved.

  • Another example of our neglectful codes department. Why was this building permitted to convert from a 4 family- as it was built- to a 7 family, with no land or off street parking? It was allowed to be used solely to profit the slumlords who owned it.
