Rescue Me – 116 Lander Street

116 Lander Street

This home was another I photographed in the north Broadway area at 116 Lander Street. It has a John J. Lease sign on the front window. I was startled when as I took this photo a man yelled out at me, “Tear it down!Tear it down!” It’s so sad, this home is huge, and for the most part looks salvageable. There’s probably a million uses that could be made with the space.

I told the man that in case they do tear it down, at least there will be a picture to remember it by.

According to Property Shark, the market value of the home is $27,400, and there are 2,997 sqft of space. The lot next door (122 Lander) was just recently cleaned up by the Greater Newburgh Partnership.

Newburgh is New York State’s second largest historic district after NYC. Newburgh literally has hundreds of dilapidated and abandoned buildings just begging for someone to come scoop them up and restore them.I’ll continue to post my own photos, but if you have a particular building you would like to see saved, email me the photo of any building you appreciate that you would like to see rescued!
