186 Washington Street which, used to be home to the Newburgh Boxing Club before becoming it’s function today as a church. What a cool building! Anybody know what it was used for in the past?
Add your own photos depicting city life to the Newburgh Restoration flickr pool to be used on the blog, or email me.
There are a number of old Newburgh city directories online and probably also at the Newburgh Library. These directories often have listed in the back streets and cross streets with respective residents.. For example, the 1949 Newburgh city directory says that 186 Washington St was owned by The Sidney Heller Company, clothing manufacturers.
Thanks for that information Kathleen!
