The National Trust for Historic Preservation will be hosting a cruise from October 22-28 of the Hudson River Valley. The architecture, history and culture of the Hudson River Valley will be examined with National Trust Study Leader, John Meffert. Newburgh will be on the tour on October 24th with a tour of the Captain David Crawford House, Karpeles Manuscript Museum, and The Federal-style Goldsmith Denniston House. On Saturday, September 24th and Sunday, September 25th, a first-person guided tour “Corps On Command: A Guard’s Perspective of Headquarters,” will be offered at 1:00 PM each day. Accompany Sergeant John Phillips, one of George Washington’s Guards, on a tour of the General’s headquarters. Hear about the Sergeant’s important responsibility of ensuring General and Mrs. Washington’s safety. Gain some insight into a guard’s opinion of his Commander-in-Chief, while walking through the rooms of the historic Hasbrouck homestead.

On Saturday, September 17th and Sunday, September 18th, at Washington’s Headquarters, a fashion-based presentation “From Petticoats to Breeches: Unveiling 18th Century Clothing” will be given at 1:00 PM each day. If you’re curious about what an 18th Century lady wore under her six layers of clothing or why a gentleman’s hat had three corners on it, then come to the Museum and wonder no more.  The program will offer a hands-on approach into the diverse articles of clothing worn by 18th Century ladies and gentlemen.

Join Master Gardener Lily Norton and Gardening Enthusiast Cathy Cahill on a guided tour of three historic gardens in the Hudson Valley.

You will visit Mt. Gulian in Beacon, Stonykill in Fishkill and Locust Grove in Poughkeepsie. At each site you will tour the beautiful gardens, enjoy the Hudson River vistas and glimpse the original homesteads.
