250 Liberty Street Newburgh NY

This isn’t an architectural masterpiece, just a simple home built in 1929 that is an example of the different years of development Newburgh has seen. It has been it this state for a while. A few of the neighboring homes like 246 Liberty looked worse than this until they were amazingly restored. It would be great to see this home saved as well. Rescue me!

30 Lander St Newburgh NY

I have a serious love affair with Newburgh carriage houses. They have potential to be anything from studio space to a guest house. And who wouldn’t want a double barn door? This carriage house on Lander Street has been holding up well but when I photographed it there was light shining in from the roof. This end of the block is very empty, but the closest to Broadway. Such potential.

If you need some inspiration for a Newburgh carriage house, check out this great one over on First Street that is just around the corner.

21-23 Johnston St Newburgh NY

In my early days of Newburgh Restoration I had grand hopes for 21-23 Johnston Street before the top floor caved in. That was 5 years ago. Almost certainly these properties are past rescuing, but there have been worse projects in Newburgh that have been saved. Maybe there is still hope yet.

27 Clark St Newburgh NY

Just off Broadway is Clark Street. It is home to many simple and modest rowhomes and some larger ones. Sadly this one looks as though it has been empty for quite some time, as has the property to the right. This could probably do well as a 2 family home and then the fire escape could be removed. If you are interested in saving this home it is for sale.

63 Carson Newburgh NY

There are many wood framed homes on this section of Carson Avenue. This yellow residence has been abandoned for quite some time. Fortunately however, most houses on this block are occupied.

144 Johnston St Newburgh NY

It was so sad to see this abandoned building on Johnston Street. The roof had melting snow that was pouring through, and nearly every window has been smashed. The rough polar vortex we have had this winter is going to take a heavy toll on these building, furthering the rotting and deterioration they are already experiencing.
