October Newburgh 038

The City of Newburgh has published the May 2014 list of properties that it owns. It is 46 pages long. The list includes everything from vacant land to crumbling structures to beautiful historical homes. This property at 96 Broadway is still on the list. It is a pivotal corner to help bring back Broadway. I think everyone is dying to see something come of it! A recent report says that the city will update the list when properties have been sold. We heard that the Monell Mansion has finally sold to a designer!

18 Liberty St Newburgh NY

This vacant property at the south end of Liberty Street is in a prime location for Newburgh’s revitalization. Across the street, 19 Liberty Street has an amazing shop that is the southern anchor of the Liberty Street Corridor. It would be wonderful to see this property sold to someone who wanted to fix it up and put a business back in. Newburgh needs it! It was bought for $1 back in 2003. The property to the left, 20 Liberty Street is also an abandoned shell.

8 Little Monument St Newburgh NY

From the exterior, it looks like this house has potential. There is no way of us knowing how severe the fire was. However, before the fire the house was listed for $54,000. There are 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you are interested in rescuing this home try contacting a realtor.

125 Johnston St Newburgh NY

This building has handsome bones, it just might be hard to see it. But on the exterior original details from the storefront’s past still remain. This would’ve been a mixed use property with the residence entrance to the right. For now the sign says “Future home of Soul Saving Station Emergency Housing.” We will have to wait and see if it happens. There’s a brick home to the right as well as 3 Italianate little rowhomes that are just gorgeous. All in various states of abandonment/vacancy.

163 South William St Newburgh NY

This property is so interesting. It doesn’t quite look like it was a residence with the barn door on the right and its cinder block exterior. But the craftsman style columns give it a homey and historical touch. Does anyone know any details about this building? It looks like the garages to the right are part of the property as well.
