Here is a corner building on Broadway that has a lot of potential. The building to the left has been really nicely restored and fixing 242 Broadway would really complete this block. It used to be home to a bodega, La Guadalupana and apparently before that it was home to Hudson Rug Co. just like 315-317 Broadway. Since 1929 the Hudson Rug Co. was in business with a branch located here on Broadway. This was also the former home of the Park Theater. Sources say some murals can still be seen inside from the former theater days. I am not quite sure when Hudson Rug Co. went out of business, but since 2004 the building has been owned by the Salvation Army and two realty companies. This is a small house around the corner from the Liberty Street School. I suspect at one time there was a storefront below, but it was later converted to a 2-family home. Last time I checked it was boarded up and vacant. Rescue me.

Today’s Rescue Me home is relatively easy to rescue if you wish. There are contact numbers if you would like further information. This is a huge building on the corner of Wisner Ave and Broadway, right across the street from Rite Aid. Right now it might look like a mess, but those large metal windows would bring in a ton of light to any work or living space. This is definitely a project for someone with a vision and the cash to make it happen but, this is just another great example of the large warehouse space the City of Newburgh has to offer.
