Basketball Tournament at the Renovated Armory

Habitat Newburgh Facebook Page

Remember a few weeks ago in a Heard Around Town post we mentioned that the newly purchased armory was supposed to be ready for a basketball tournament by Thanksgiving? Turns out it’s going to be true. The Armory will have a grand opening weekend Nov. 26-28th. Opening ceremonies will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 26, followed by a Family Fun Day until 4 p.m. in the gymnasium and basketball court. The day’s activities will be geared to participants of all ages and abilities, from dance and Zumba to yoga and soccer. Double Dutch jump rope, a Newburgh tradition will also be featured, as well as a Jumping Jack contest, arts and crafts, hands on science, and face painting.

Saturday is all about basketball, with more than 200 youth, ages 7-17, participating in basketball clinics and games, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The game will take place on Nov, 27th 8:30am-6:30pm.

  • Wonderful news! This is great for pre-teen and teens to keep them active, healthy and not being bored. Rather them play basketball than being on the streets and getting involved in crime and drugs.
