This grand old lady sits on the corner of Liberty and Courtney Ave. It looks like it’s been empty for a while, so sad. Look closely and you can see original stained glass windows on the third floor. Occupation and restoration of this home would be a major change and anchor for this part of Liberty Street and the Heights. It’s neighbor is the lime green home featured last week. There are many photos of the Heights neighborhood when it was first formed in 1891. Surely an original photo of this home exists as well.
Newburgh is New York State’s second largest historic district after NYC. Newburgh literally has hundreds of dilapidated and abandoned buildings just begging for someone to come scoop them up and restore them.I’ll continue to post my own photos, but if you have a particular building you would like to see saved, email me the photo of any building you appreciate that you would like to see rescued. You never know who you might inspire!
