Newburgh Schools Annual Summer Construction Bus Tour

Newburgh Enlarged City School District officials, along with members of various NECSD committees, came together on Thurs., September 1, 2011 for the Annual Summer Constriction Bus Tour. The tour, led by Terry Damon of Armlin, Damon & McMordie, the company hired to manage the improvement plan, visited schools within the NECSD that received renovations and improvements since the summer of 2010. The improvements are part of the overall Master Plan for the NECSD which was set in motion following bond referendums that were approved by voters in 2005 and 2007.

During the tour, participants visited GAMS Tech Magnet School, Horizons on the Hudson, Meadow Hill Global Explorations School, Newburgh Free Academy, South Middle School, Temple Hill Academy and Vails Gate High Tech Magnet School.

The scale of work varied at each building based on need including building envelope, electrical, interior, site, and mechanical improvements and upgrades.

In addition, at Temple Hill Academy and Meadow Hill, participants observed the newly reconstructed athletic fields, six lane track, and new perimeter fencing that improved the fields for physical education and modified sports.

Over at South Middle School, the auditorium was revitalized floor to ceiling with new carpeting, lighting fixtures, fresh paint, seating, and a refinished stage.
