Here is a great example of potential art space that is available in the many industrial buildings of Newburgh. The building is large and has an unlimited amount of configurations with a large garage door and a lovely skylight. Some might also consider Chambers Street a doubtful location, but actually this section of Chambers has a nice concentration of arts and other positive things happening. It is considered by some “one of the better blocks” – referring to Chambers Street between Broadway and First.

So what else is happening on this little block? Just across the street is 9-11 Chambers Street which, 2 years ago hosted the Pop-Up Gallery. It was a success with about 200 visitors in attendance. Also at 9-11 Chambers was the Queen of the Hudson Music Series that was presented this year. On a regular basis, 3 artists rent out spaces at 9-11 and there is another studio on the same street.
Other factors which make this warehouse ripe for an art related space- The Ritz Theater, which will eventually be renovated and turned into a 800+ seat venue. The Ann Street Gallery is also behind the theater. You also have the Karpeles Manuscript Museum around the corner as well as the restaurants and shops of Washington’s Market, all within walking distance. Habitat for Humanity also tore down 2 disintegrating structures and built 2 new ones in its place. And, right at the corner of 1st and Chambers is La Vida Urban Garden and mural.
