Grab your popcorn! The City of Newburgh in conjunction with Playground on Wheels and Newburgh Strong has announced the full schedule for free Summer Movie Nights.  All movies will start at 8:30 p.m. In the event of rain, films will be shown at the City Activity Center, 401 Washington Street.

• Friday, Aug. 2: Rise of the Guardians.  On the Bluff at Courtney Avenue and Bayview Terrace. A computer-animated fantasy film based on William Joyce’s The Guardians of Childhood book series and The Man in the Moon short film. The film tells a story about Guardians Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny and the Sandman who enlist Jack Frost to stop Pitch Black from engulfing the world in darkness.
• Friday, Aug. 9: The Avengers.  On the Mid-Broadway lot between Johnston & Lander. A superhero film produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios, based on the Marvel Comics superhero team. In the film, Nick Fury, director of the peacekeeping organization SHIELD, recruits Iron Man, Captain America, the Incredible Hulk and Thor to form a team that must stop Thor’s adoptive brother Loki from taking over the Earth.
• Friday, Aug. 16: Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted. Newburgh Armory Unity Center, 321 S. William St. Produced by Dreamworks Animation. In the film Alex, Marty, Melman, and Gloria are still struggling to get home to New York. This time, their journey takes them to Europe where they are relentlessly pursued by French Animal Control Officer Captain Chantel DuBois. As a means of getting passage to North America, the zoo animals purchase a failing traveling and become close friends with the staff. As they revitalize the business they find themselves reconsidering where their true home really is.
• Thursday August 29: The Odd Life of Timothy Green. Delano-Hitch Stadium, 401 Washington Street. An inspiring, magical story about a happily married couple who can’t wait to start a family but can only dream about what their child would be like. When young Timothy shows up on their doorstep one stormy night, Cindy and Jim—and their small town of Stanleyville—learn that sometimes the unexpected can bring some of life’s greatest gifts.

Again, admission to Movie Nights is absolutely free! All are invited to attend. Bring your own chairs and blankets.
