4 Grand St Newburgh NY

One of the best areas to consider buying a property in Newburgh is near Washington’s Headquarters. This property on Grand Street is in the right location and is a great example of Newburgh architecture. You are walking distance to the burgeoning businesses of Liberty Street and the waterfront. However, inside the interior has been seriously neglected and damaged. Some areas appear to be completely gutted while others still retain original wide planks floors, plaster moldings, and marble fireplaces. The backyard also has a very strange property line layout. The house to the left is in worse condition and has yet to be put back on the market but other neighbors are doing great work with their properties. It will take a lot of work to make this house habitable, and the asking price is quite high considering the condition. What do you think?

  • I’ve always loved this house. I always loved the exterior anyway. It’s sad, though, that five years ago it sold for 417 grand and now it’s dropped so much. If I could afford to buy this house and fix it up, and also pay the taxes, I would do just that. Anybody know what that big building is behind this property? It looks like a mansion or something, but I never even noticed it before.

  • There has been nothing done with the garden but there is a really great southside corner which will be someone’s great garden. Also–it is the very best walk to the Ferry in the City–just about a block or two down the hill.River Views. Just needs some LOVE.
